Single Scoop: 250 Card Historic Special


Wait, so nobody told me you shouldn't play more than 60 cards in your deck? Hmmm, awkward....

Gameplan

Well, normally there is a gameplan but this week I just wanted to add all the cards I could into my deck. We have non synergistic things like Leyline of Anticipation and Fires of Invention but its okay! We have a ton of board wipes and Planeswalkers. We even have creatures like Azor,the Lawbringer which is a Sphinx's Revelation on a stick! With this crazy of a manabase, I guess our core engine is really the mana fixers!

As you can probably see, we play cards like Kaya's Wrath while also playing cards like Casualties of War and Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God. I think this might make the deck a SUPER SUPER SUPER LEVEL 9000 Friends deck so we really need all the colors for our mana. With 250 cards, how do we plan on finding anything with consistency?

These will serve as additional copies of our mana fixers and for our way to look for silver bullets like Leyline of the Void, Virulent Plague, and Unmoored Ego! The brighter side of things with a 250 card deck is how we never have to sideboard as a great duelist once said: "my grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards". This is assuming we aren't facing a deck with a ton of  one cost threats. Mono Blue might be our absolute worst match up so we'll hope to dodge that. 

Once we've got our mana base secured, we can try to survive with all of our board wipes

We have other board wipes in the deck as surely can never have too many ways to try to stabilize against aggro decks but I wanted to load up on as many multicolored ones as possible for Niv-Mizzet Reborn to find. 

Once we've survived long enough, we can win through our creatures and planeswalkers

Seriously, we play so many random cards our opponents will never know what to counter! We included planeswalker deck walkers and a bunch of sweet legendaries that never got to see much play while they were in standard. Obviously if you have pet cards, remove whatever you want as this deck is pretty much multiple EDH decks put into one!

The deck...... went 4-3 and to be honest with you, I was guessing we'd get about 3 wins the whole video so it feels great to actually get more wins than losses! What can I say about the deck overall? I think we should play more Leyline of the Void and maybe a few more spot removal spells that are instant speed as aggro can really dunk on us. Gruul aka haste tribal just goes too fast and the Kethis, the Hidden Hand along with other Underworld Breach decks are too fast at closing. We need to slow them down with more instant speed removal and graveyard hate! Otherwise, the deck was a fun wild and hot mess! The beauty of the deck is there isn't a correct way to build it because it's all over the place but it was definitely fun to see what we could win with! Gotta love a few singletons like Axis of Mortality!!
