Single Scoop: Are We Humans? (Standard, Magic Arena)

This deck is reliant on General's Enforcer and your legendary humans!

With the amount of Stomps that have been running around, I figured we make it a little more difficult for the Gruul and Red decks by making our legendary humans indestructible! This will tax our opponent's removals and buy us the time we need to curve out and beat our opponent's down with some good ol' humans. General Kudro of Drannith is one of the more well known human legends but since we want to maximize the amount of legends in our deck, I went and added Taranika, Akroan Veteran. I kind of forgot this card existed when deckbuilding but after throwing it in, it was quite funny as it allowed our Archfiend's Vessel and General's Enforcer to get in on the combat action with a stat buff! Of course, we never leave our king at home! Kenrith, the Returned King is another legendary to fill out our list but is a way to reanimate our fallen humans while just being a good beater.

Should our humans fall, we have a few other ways to reanimate them with Agadeem's Awakening and Call of the Death-Dweller! With our opponents having to jump through the hoops of killing our General's Enforcer and the legends it assisted, we ask our opponents to answer the humans again!

Although this deck revolves around a few cards and a gimmick, Dire Tactics is an absolute powerhouse of a removal spell and will be a format all-star if there is a human deck. This card exiles anything for two mana at instant speed and that is far better than a majority of removal in standard. Heartless Act and Eliminate all have restrictions that are felt through the course of a game but Dire Tactics is just a clean answer that might be worth looking at as we move deeper into the format.

Conclusion

As witnessed the deck can be quite the bruiser of a deck when people are relying on Shock effects to answer us. Does this deck beat the top deck in the meta, Gruul? I wouldn't say that it's heavily favored but I would say General's Enforcer + Legendary humans does throw a sweet roadblock as long as we're prepared to deal with Embercleave. The deck still struggles against pure control as cards like Extinction Event don't care about indestructible but the gimmick of the deck is sweet enough for Bo1!
