Single Scoop: Arclight Red (Historic)

I've been looking for a fun Young Pyromancer deck to play in Historic and luckily, AEN_SW provided me with a sweet Mono Red Phoenix list!

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

The deck is all about firing off a ton of cheap spells. Young Pyromancer rewards us for playing cheap spells as we can generate an army of elemental tokens just for casting spells! And of course, when we're firing off a ton of cheap spells, it synergizes with Arclight Phoenix.  Thanks to all of our draw in cards like Thrill of Possibility and Cathartic Reunion, we can throw away a ton of phoenixes easily while refueling our hands with more spells.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

Speaking of cheap spells, Jumpstart also brings us Lightning Axe which is huge for the deck as its a solid form of removal that further enables the phoenix gameplan. On top of that, we got access to Pillar of Flame which now pushes us towards a critical mass of cheap spells.

Conclusion

The deck got a slight bump in power and Young Pyromancer paired with Castle Embereth is sweet. However, the deck could definitely use some Gut Shots and Lava Spike to really pack the punch as it's modern counterpart. Still, its a lot of fun and can really overrun opponents that don't have Goblin Chainwhirler. Some changes I'd make to the deck is maybe dropping Cathartic Reunion for Tormenting Voice as that gives Finale of Promise more targets. Cathartic Reunion is sweet the first time but top decking it isn't a great feeling. I also really liked Ox of Agonas and I kind of want a second copy. The deck will also get a huge power bump once Amonkhet Remastered comes out as we'll have access to Soul-Scar Mage. This is a pretty sweet starting shell and I definitely can't wait to tweak it a bit more on stream! Thanks for the list AEN_SW as the deck was super sweet.

Thanks for reading and watching! See you at the next one.
