Single Scoop: Greasefang Reanimator (Historic, Magic Arena)

Gameplan

People love their reanimator decks but what if we reanimated something that isn't Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger or a praetor of any kind? What if we reanimated Parhelion II and a ton of vehicles?

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

This is where Greasefang, Okiba Boss enters the picture as the card allows us to reanimate any vehicle from our graveyard and then bounce it back to our hand. Hopefully, Parhelion II is good enough as that can be 13 damage on turn 3 with two angels left over. If we can't seem to find Parhelion, we've got other vehicles to bring back like Reckoner Bankbuster and Skysovereign, Consul Flagship. Bankbuster will just be a way to get value and hopefully find our Parhelion. Skysovereign is actually a decent backup plan if we just need some good clean removal.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

The new channel land, Takenuma, Abandoned Mire is a way for us to hopefully mill our vehicles while finding a fallen Greasefang! This card has proven to be extremely powerful in the deck as we sometimes need help both in finding Greasefang and filling our graveyard up with threats.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

We've also got the backup package of aggression as Toolcraft Exemplar and Gideon Blackblade can get beefy and chip away at a ton of our opponent's health quickly. Gideon specifically is a tough to remove threat that also meets the crewing requirements of Parhelion so it just felt like a solid inclusion!

Conclusion

The deck is hilariously fun as Parhelion on turn 3 is big damage but being paired against a control deck or anything with a ton of incidental artifact hate can lead to a teary-eyed night. This deck's purpose as of this build feels more like a fun deck than a legit winning deck as I feel if I wanted to reanimate something, I would just run the normal reanimation package and try to grab a Praetor or Serra's Emissary and lock the opponent out. Regardless, this deck gets high praise for its fun factor.
