Single Scoop: Mono White Prison (Historic, Magic Arena)

Since AKR, a ton of sweet prison type effects got added to the card pool to make a Prison deck. AtelierYsk came up with the original list but with how much Thoughtseize there is going around, I decided to add my own take on it by adding Leyline of Sanctity and more Gideon's Intervention to name Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger to protect our Solemnity.  Here's the list:

The meta is filled with tons of aggressive decks like Auras and Goblins so playing the combo of Solemnity + Nine Lives is good enough to put games away as most aggro decks won't be able to stop those two cards paired together as all damage that would be dealt to us for the rest of the game is prevented. While this lock usually swings the match in our favor, cards like Bonecrusher Giant and Questing Beast stops damage from being prevented.

Solemnity has so many interactions that people will often forget about. Example, Nissa, Who Shakes the World will animate a land and have the land immediately die and that makes me smile. We also blank Sagas and Blast Zones so it's not absolutely embarrassing to play a Solemnity on it's own.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

We also have two more prison pieces that are great in a meta filled with Collected Company and graveyard synergies. Grafdigger's Cage is here to make it so Collected Company doesn't do anything while also shutting off Muxus, Goblin Grandee. Outside of that, Cage and Rest in Peace team up to stop the Rakdos Pyromancer decks. Rest in Peace also has the application to shut of dying triggers so the card is definitely worthy of a maindeck slot.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Now that we've hated out Graveyards and prevented damage for the rest of the game, the next prison piece would be Leyline of Sanctity. The enchantment is an all-star right now as it shuts off Thoughtseize and burn spells. Nothing feels better than watching a red deck player target themselves just to play Viashino Pyromancer. Once we've got Hexproof, we're safe to just focus on assembling our lock without getting our hand disrupted!

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

Lastly, we've got to cover our bases from problematic cards that are currently threatening us or could potentially remove our enchantments. Cards like Ugin, the Spirit Dragon win the game against us if they -3 and remove our Nine Lives and that is a huge problem. With that info in mind, I will usually try to dig for The Immortal Sun to keep the planeswalker hordes at bay. On top of that, we Gideon's Intervention to name off Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger  to continue to protect our enchantments.

How Do We Win?

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

This may seem like a joke but often times we'll lock our opponents out of the game and and just win by making one token a turn or cheese our way to a victory with Approach of the Second Sun

Conclusion

The deck performed way better than I thought it would! It seems the weak spot in the deck is the lack of cheap interaction and Grafdigger's Cage.  The cheap interaction is self explanatory but the additional Cages would be to specifically hate out Goblin decks. The Leyline addition was great as it just gets us free wins often times. The deck was the perfect way to troll the queues but I would only recommend crafting this deck if you're looking for a meme as I don't think the deck is anywhere near tier 1 but it definitely will be fun for you prison players out there!

As always, thank you for watching and reading!
