Single Scoop: Lorehold Aggro (Standard, Magic Arena)

Gameplan

Out with Boros and bring in Lorehold! All the sweet new cards from Strixhaven has aggro looking extra saucy.

I'd like to point out is that these two new cards aren't humans so there are synergies with Winota, Joiner of Forces! We also get to see if Learn is viable in constructed. As of right now, the spells that you're able to grab with Learn are decent at best. However, the ability to grab whatever you need out of your sideboard in a queue without sideboards is powerful hence the change from fifteen to seven cards. Putting down a 2/1 body that can grab something like Reduce to Memory allows you to deal with a problematic permanent. At the very least, you can rummage. We also play Venerable Warsinger which is a powerful three drop as it has Vigilance and Trample. This means we can't be chump blocked and if we can connect, we can return a plethora of cards three mana value or less. 

What're we cheating in to play with Winota?

These cards aren't Agent of Treachery but I would say they're good enough. Luckily Strixhaven brought us the world champ PVDDR and Blade Historian. The Blade Historian has proven to be quite the magic card as giving all of our attacking creatures double strike out of nowhere could end the game. The other humans are really there for disruption or serve as a curve topper. 

Conclusion

The deck had a very mediocre performance in that it felt awkward when we drew all of our payoffs but that's the nature of any Winota deck. This leads me to believe that this deck would be fun if you're a fan of Winota but it might just be better to drop the Winota package and play Seasoned Hallowblade and become a Lorehold "goodstuff" aggro. I also feel that the meta right now is quite hostile to a deck that is neither fast enough or resilient enough to go into the late game. So to speed up, we could start adding Maul of the Skyclaves and Embercleave and lower the curve a bit to top out with Blade Historian.  Some other closing thoughts are that Strixhaven has made a bigger splash in best of one than it has in best of three so if you want to get away from the meta, I'd recommend trying Best of One or Historic for now.
