Modern Mayhem: A Crab's Laughter

Gameplan

Mill has always been a fun archetype to try to push in multiple formats, but Mill's time has finally arrived! Thanks to #MTGAFR, Tasha's Hideous Laughter might be what the deck needed!

In a format with free spells and low curves, Tasha's Hideous Laughter could potentially exile huge chunks of an opponent's deck! Although this card combats the strategy of milling and using cards like Drown in the Loch, the upside of this card is just too darn good not to play!

Conclusion

Outside of user errors thanks to my never-ending battle with MTGO's interface, the deck felt hilariously strong. The deck is now at a critical mass of crabs that can laugh their way to the bank as we mill out opponents. Our mill spells are now hyper-efficient. Adding Sphere of Annihilation was sweet as it dunks on Hammer Time if we untap with it. Darkness was mostly a meme but it kinda does work against these hyper aggro decks as it often felt like we could win if we had one more turn. If you've been a mill lover, Modern is the place for you! What a time to be a mill player, am I right?

At one point, Golgari Delirium was a tier 1 deck. It's time to see if Shadows Over Innistrad cards like Grim Flayer, Ishakanah, and Emrakul, the Promised End can still close out games like its 2016.
