Modern Mayhem: Esper Control Update
Gameplan
It's the classic control we know and love that is all about nullifying our opponent's gameplan as best we can. This time, we've changed the numbers around as the last time we filmed the esper deck, we went 2-3 so this time around, I wanted to see if we could do a little bit better.
We've gone ahead and added Dress Down which is an absolute house against some combos and creature decks! Being able to end step this and bounce it back with Teferi, Time Raveler ain't bad! We've also got Solitude which has proven to be a staple in most control decks right now. The fact that it can also be a lifelinking beater in the late game is amazing as control has been known to force much worse win conditions!
Hall of Storm Giants is climbing up the ranks of solid win conditions as some decks just can't afford to pay the Ward tax and find ways to deal with the 7/7 body. As cards like Unholy Heat only deals 6 damage, they would have to pay a total of eight mana to combine Unholy Heat with some other answer to remove it!
Conclusion
The deck might want to Consider playing the aforementioned card with the release of #MTGMID. I'm excited to see what cards from #MTGMID could also fit into this shell. For now, back to the drawing board!
