Weekly Update (Jan 15): ONE Planeswalkers
Phyrexia: All Will Be One Previews |
We got a sneak peek at Phyrexia: All Will Be One this week with a barrage of planeswalkers. It looks like Lukka, Vraska, and Nahiri got compleated, while Kaya, Kaito, and the Wanderer managed to avoid that fate. Previews officially start on Tuesday, so be sure to check www.mtgpreviews.com for all the latest cards.

Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
This week in the world of Magic finance, the big winner was Cityscape Leveler which climbed 61% to just under $14. The eight-drop has emerged as a ramp finisher and Karn, the Great Creator tutor target in both Modern and Pioneer, which is driving the price increase. Whether the mythic can climb even higher mostly depends on Commander. Right now Cityscape Leveler is in just 1% of decks according to EDHRec, which is surprising low considering the power of repeatable removal in the format. For now I would take a wait and see approach. The card is unlikely to drop much soon, and if Commander players find it, the sky is the limit.
Meanwhile in Modern, Archive Trap increased 27% this week to a massive $55. While the trap is perhaps the best mill card in the format and Mill is a legit archetype, if you have extra copies, I’d look to sell them now. It’s only a matter of time before Archive Trap gets reprinted and it will almost certainly be at rare which should drop the price a ton.
Finally, Phyrexia: All Will Be One spoilers officially start on Tuesday. Make sure to check out the MTGGoldfish YouTube for coverage. But a quick reminder not to fall into the trap of buying cards at inflated presale prices. During spoiler season most cards are priced based on their maximum potential (see Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines at an absurd $75). In almost all cases you’ll save money by waiting for the hype to die down and the set to be opened a bit, and this will remain true for our return to Phyrexia.
