In Standard, the biggest finance news is once again tied to Ravnica Allegiance, with cards from older standards sets from the guilds returning in Ravnica Allegiance increasing in price. The biggest example is Angrath, the Flame-Chained which doubled in price to nearly $18 this week, despite not seeing much play in our current Standard format. Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca, Hadana's Climb and Elenda, the Dusk Rose are on the rise as well. Expect more Standard movement in coming weeks with Ravnica Allegiance spoilers officially starting January 2.
In Modern, the biggest gainer was Sanity Grinding (up 210% to $8.95), which hasn't posted any results but was featured in a YouTube video by MagicAids. Combine this with being old, low supply and never having been reprinted, it's a card that can increase in price fairly easily if people start buying copies. Meanwhile, both finishers from Grishoalbrand - Griselbrand and Worldspine Wurm - increased on the week, most likely because the former most expensive cards in the deck. Goryo's Vengeance and Through the Breach) are fairly cheap at the moment thanks to Ultimate Masters reprints.
Finally, Ultimate Masters prices have been stable for the past couple of weeks. While the lack of supply has kept chase cards from dropping further, so far there hasn't been a meaningful increase in price and boxes are still being opened. At this point the best plan is likely to pick up the cards you need. While more sealed product could turn up, it's just as possible that supply continues to dry up and prices of chase singles start to increase quicker than with past Masters sets.
