Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive

Savra, Queen of the Golgari Counterspell Korvold, Fae-Cursed King

This week in the world of finance the biggest winners are once again tied to Strixhaven and the popular new commanders to come from the set. At the top of our list we have Savra, Queen of the Golgari which works extremely well with the Pest token theme of Beledros Witherbloom as well as the lifegain/lifeloss theme of Willowdusk, Essence Seer and Dina, Soul Steeper. The Ravnica rare jumped a massive 611% to $27. If you need a copy, one possibility is to pick up the Guilds of Ravnica Golgari Guild Kit (the only place Savra, Queen of the Golgari has ever been reprinted), which is selling for between $35 and $40 on Ebay and gives you a $10 Deathrite Shaman, a $4 Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, a $6 Abrupt Decay, and some other playable but not especially expensive Commander cards like Golgari Signet, Elves of Deep Shadow, Stinkweed Imp and Golgari Charm

Meanwhile in Modern the announcement that Counterspell will be entering the format with the release of Modern Horizonsis having an impact on the price of some special versions of Counterspell itself as well as Archmage's Charm. While Counterspell has been printed about a million times and you can easily find cheap versions for around $2, the foil Mystical Archive printing jumped from $10 to $30 while the Japanese foil is up to $98 and the non-foil is over $60. The extended border Commander Legends printing also doubled up to $10 and the FNM Promo is pushing $80. Meanwhile, Archmage's Charm increased 63% to nearly $14, most likely due to the potential of Counterspell leading to Modern control decks shifting towards heavier blue builds to support Counterspell

Finally, Korvold, Fae-Cursed King (brawl deck) is on the rise, with the Brawl precon commander climbing to $11, almost double what it was at the end of March. This potentially makes the Brawl precons themselves a good deal. If you're willing to buy all four decks together you can get them for $115-$120 on Ebay (roughly $30/deck). If you add up the value of all the cards in the decks, it comes up to over $200, although this includes a bunch of bulk commons and uncommons that are worth less than their retail price suggests. Even discounting the bulk, you'll get a $41 Smothering Tithe, four shocklands worth between $9 and $13, Korvold, Chulane, Teller of Tales (brawl deck), and a bunch of other stuff worth a couple of dollars.
