Modern Mayhem: 10 Rack (Modern, Magic Online)
Which card? Discard! This week we're playing 10 Rack so you know what that means? No cards for your opponents! Let's take a look at my list.
Gameplan
Our whole plan? Leave our opponent empty handed which turns on all of our rack effects. What are our rack effects?
Once our opponents are low enough in hand, these cards will go online which will start burning our opponent's health out. This is great but what's new?
Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage is one of our new toys and it's both a rack effect and a way to make our opponents run out of cards! This is big for us as now we have something that is a two in one card that is hard to deal with outside of just attacking or burning it out as this doesn't get destroyed by Destructive Revelry and another Disenchant type of effects. He also looks really cool!
Another sweet addition from #MTGWAR is Liliana's Triumph!
This card is super sweet as we get a strictly better version of Diabolic Edict that can also make our opponent discard a card if we have a Liliana planeswalker. Discard + Synergy with Liliana of the Veil? Sure thing.
We also added Ashiok, Dream Render into the sideboard.
This card has been really good out of the sideboard of my modern decks. I've been loving the fact that it can turn off fetch lands, Summoner's Pact, and many other search effects! This is also diverse enough for us to play due to it exiling each opponent's graveyard every time you use its ability, and with how Modern is, having graveyard removal that can do other things is definitely good in my book.
Conclusion
I think the deck has gotten to a critical mass of rack effects that actually burn our opponents out easily. I think if we were to upgrade this list, we should look into adding Pack Rat and Collective Brutality as discard spells are really bad if we're in the late game and we top deck it. Pack Rat however can turn that into a body and give us an aggressive line to take. Collective Brutality is amazing as it helps us dump our hand to lower our hand size to make our Ensnaring Bridge more effective while also serving as a discard, removal, and burn spell.
