This week the Magic market is still sorting through the impact of Kaldheim, even with Time Spiral Remastered spoilers starting on Thursday and a surprise early sneak peak of Strixhaven during the last Wizards stream. Looking at the biggest non-Reserved List winners of the week, they are almost all either related to the themes of Kaldheim or potential themes for future sets (some random cards with "Phyrexian" in the name are trending up on the speculation that we're heading into a Phyrexian-based plane next year). We've been talking a lot about Elves over the past couple of weeks, and the trend price increases due to Kaldheim (Lathril, Blade of the Elves) and Commander Legends continued this week with Ezuri, Renegade Leader (up 46% to $18.50), Elvish Harbinger (up 46% to $18), and Gilt-Leaf Palace (up 24% to $19) increasing this week. While both Ezuri, Renegade Leader and Gilt-Leaf Palace see play in Modern Elves (which has also been on the upswing thanks to the printing of Realmwalker and Elvish Warmaster), Elvish Harbinger does not, so it's pretty safe to assume players building GB Elves in Commander are the primary driver of Elf prices.
Along the same lines, Stuffy Doll self-damage style Commander decks are also on the rise thanks to Kaldheim offering two new legends to support the strategy (Toralf, God of Fury and Aegar, the Freezing Flame) to go alongside Jared Carthalion, True Heir from Commander Legends. Leading the way was Star of Extinction which shot up 67% to $9. The original Time Spiral version of Stuffy Doll spiked as well, up 69% to $15. Star of Extinction makes sense: it is a unique sweeper with weird combo potential with cards like Toralf, God of Fury and Jared Carthalion, True Heir. On the other hand, you should probably stay far, far away from Stuffy Doll. Even if you need a copy, it's exceedingly likely to get reprinted in Time Spiral Remastered. If you need one to finish a deck, wait a couple of weeks and you should be able to pick one up for a fraction of its current price.
Speaking of Time Spiral Remastered, while the most exciting part of the set is the old-border reprints, there are some really solid, in-demand cards from the block itself. While we don't know exactly which ones will be reprinted, it's a pretty safe assumption that most of the valuable cards from Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, and Future Sight will show up in the set. This means if you need cards like Vesuva, Gauntlet of Power, Gemstone Caverns, Damnation, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Sliver Legion, or Akroma's Memorial (along with a bunch of other cards that are in the $30 price range) you should probably wait to see if they end up getting reprinted. In general, chase cards lose around 50% of their value when reprinted.
