Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |

The biggest gainer this week was Notion Thief (increasing more than 200% to $6), which was bought out after the announcement that Hullbreacher was banned in Commander, presumably on the theory that players would replace their Hullbreacher with the next best thing. While this might be true in some cases, Notion Thief being Dimir rather than Mono-Blue is a pretty big issue in Commander. While the Human Rogue was probably underpriced at $2, it's already trending back down and will probably settle at somewhere around $4. Don't expect it to climb towards Hullbreacher's former price tag. It has been reprinted multiple times, most recently in a Zendikar Rising Commander precon.
Meanwhile, even though the enemy fetchlands were just reprinted in Modern Horizons 2, we might already need another fetchland reprinting. This isn't to say that the Modern Horizons 2 reprinting was lacking in impact - the enemy fetches are currently quite cheap (at least by fetchland standards). You can grab copies of Scalding Tarn for around $35. Less desirable fetchlands like Arid Mesa and Marsh Flats can be had for around $20. So what's the issue? The prices of the allied fetchlands have greatly increased. Wooded Foothills, Polluted Delta, and Bloodstained Mire are all around $50, while Flooded Strand and Windswept Heath are just under $40, representing roughly a 100% increase in price since the start of the year. The end result is that the cost of putting together a Modern manabase isn't really meaningfully different than it was before Modern Horizons 2. If you have the funds, it's worth snagging enemy fetchlands now while prices are low. they'll start ticking back up again in a few months. But if you need ally fetchlands, it might be worth waiting until they are eventually reprinted.
Finally, Liliana, Untouched by Death is on the rise, shooting up 42% to $6.50 this week thanks to a new infinite combo with Shambling Ghast and a sacrifice outlet, with Liliana's -3 allowing you to sacrifice and recast Shambling Ghast and infinite number of times with mana from the Treasure token Shambling Ghast produces. Just how good the combo ends up being remains to be seen, but if some sort of Zombie Bombardment deck featuring the combo takes off in Modern Liliana, Untouched by Death could easily hit $10 or even $20 as a one-print mythic. Even if the combo fizzles Liliana, Untouched by Death has a lot of long term potential. Zombies are a popular tribal which get more members nearly every set, and as the Shambling Ghast combo exemplifies the -3 ability is unique. Even if Shambling Ghast isn't the card to break Liliana, Untouched by Death, sooner or later there's a good chance that something will.
