Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |

This week, Standard is preparing for rotation and a new metagame. While there haven't been any huge spikes, the general trend is that cards which interact with the graveyard like Muldrotha, the Gravetide, Search for Azcanta, and Stitcher's Supplier are heading up, while cards that interact with artifacts like Karn, Scion of Urza and Tezzeret, Artifice Master are ticking down. This makes sense, considering that Guilds of Ravnica itself has a heavy graveyard theme, but not much in the way of playable artifacts (at least that we've seen so far).
In Modern, the list of top winners from the week is literally a Jund deck, with Tarmogoyf, Dark Confidant, Liliana of the Veil, Blackcleave Cliffs and the black fetchlands holding down the top 10 spots. The same is true on Magic Online where Tarmogoyf is up about 50% on the week depending on the printing. People seem to be betting that the printing of Assassin's Trophy will shoot Jund back to the top of the meta. While only time will tell, these prices suggest that at least some people are trying to buy into the deck now while the pieces are comparatively cheap.
Speaking of Assassin's Trophy, there's no way it can maintain its current price of between $25-$30. It's a rare in a set with a lot of value (thanks in part to the shocklands) and Guilds of Ravnica will be heavily opened. It's extremely difficult for an in-print rare to stay over $20, and doubly so for a rare from a set like Guilds of Ravnica. Even if the card is as good as everyone thinks, it should drop down towards $15 as the set is opened. You could save a reasonably amount of money by waiting to pick up your copies if you don't need them immediately for Standard.
