Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
The biggest finance news of the week comes from Eldritch Moon Standard, where Burn decks are suddenly all the rage. Most notable is the UR Fevered Visions deck, which jumped from a single 9-1 showing at last week's Pro Tour Eldritch Moon to the second most played deck on day two at Grand Prix Rimini. The primary beneficiary of Burn's rise is Collective Defiance, which jumped 259% to $5.27 this week, but Exquisite Firecraft, Thing in the Ice and Fevered Visions are all up between 5% and 10% as well.
We also got a new planeswalker this week in Kaya, Ghost Assassin. Her starting price of about $25 is less than half of Dack Fayden when he was first spoiled, but there are some rumblings she could be good enough for Legacy. I'm skeptical of four-mana planeswalkers in eternal formats, but if she manages to break out it in Legacy, expect a massive short-term spike. On the other hand, she is a slam dunk for Commander and casual formats, but we'll have to wait and see just how much Conspiracy 2 is opened before trying to figure out what this means for her price.
In Modern, Greater Gargadon is now a $10 card after jumping about 100% this week (even with a Modern Masters printing). Dredge is currently the hottest deck in the format, and the newest builds of the archetype are using the combo of Greater Gargadon and Bridge from Below to generate a ton of Zombie tokens. It's worth noting that Bridge from Below hasn't moved, and unlike Greater Gargadon, which only sees play in Modern, Bridge from Below is also one of the most important cards in Legacy and Vintage Dredge. If you plan on playing the deck, it probably wouldn't hurt to get your copies now. As for Greater Gargadon itself, it's time to dig through your bulk and see if you can find some $10 bills.
