Historic101 : Golgari Elves

Thanks to Anthology 2, we got Elvish Visionary and that got me wanting to scratch my elves itch!

Gameplan

The deck plays a very "all in" gameplan that loads up the board with a bunch of elves which will pump up our super mana dork in Marwyn, the Nurturer

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

By growing our Marwyn, we'll be able to cast a ton of elves which is perfect when paired with one of our main draw engines, Beast Whisperer. These two together will allow us to potentially draw 4-5 cards a turn which is more than enough to help us refill our hand in the event of a board wipe.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

We also have our lord effects in Elvish Clancaller and Imperious Perfect to pump our team to close the game out faster. Even better, if we untap with Impervious Perfect, we can generate an army with that card alone.

Why add black?

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

My inclusion of adding another color to our manabase is so we can add cards like Poison-Tip Archer to help us close out the game a little bit faster as it triggers whenever another creature dies. This includes ours and our opponents which is huge. It also provides us with a backup plan in the event that the opponent tries to wipe our board. Just keep in mind this doesn't trigger if our opponent exiles all of our creatures! We also added black for better sideboard cards. Duress is great at one mana but the fact that it can miss on Adventure creatures while not exiling the threat can be a problem.

Conclusion

*** VIDEO SPOILERS ***

After playing the deck, I definitely liked the inclusion of black because of the sideboard cards and etc but I feel like Gruesome Menagerie was a bit cute and should probably be dropped for something else lower on the curve. If I want to keep something that is a bit higher on the mana cost, I'd probably add another Vivien Reid or potentially Vivien, Champion of the Wilds as it's much cheaper and allows us to flash our elves in(unless Teferi is out). Here's an updated list..

Merfolk have constantly been brought back but haven't been good in a long time. This deck will definitely make our opponents respect the typal enough to consider Merfolk a tier 2 deck >:3
