Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive

Verdurous Gearhulk Leyline of the Void Rishadan Port

Let's start our finance update by checking in again on Kaladesh. Last weekend, the average mythic price was $10.32, the average rare was $1.02, and the average Kaladesh Invention was $86.90. Today, the average mythic is worth $10.62. While 10 of the 15 mythics decreased on the week, these losses were more than made up by significant gains from Verdurous Gearhulk (up 62%), Torrential Gearhulk (up 30%), and Aetherworks Marvel (up 24%). Rares tell a similar story with the average value increasing $1.09 on the back of two big gainers: Smuggler's Copter (up 124%) and Fleetwheel Cruiser (up 224%). Finally, the Inventions jumped to an average of $91.90, with Steel Overseer and Rings of Brighthearth being the biggest winners, with gains between 10–20%.

Apart from Kaladesh, it was a fairly quiet week on the finance front. In Modern, one of last week's biggest winners—Brushland—started to normalize, while the biggest winners were Leyline of the Void (up about 10% to about $15), and Eldrazi Temple (up about 10% to about $7). Both of these cards have become increasingly important to the format, Leyline of the Void for fighting against graveyard decks like Dredge, and Eldrazi Temple facilitating the once-again-tier-one Bant Eldrazi. It wouldn't be surprising to see a Leyline reprint soon, but I'm not sure Eldrazi Temple will be on the list after multiple reprints in the past two years.

Finally, on Magic Online, Rishadan Port is all the way up to 255 tix per copy after being about 150 tix as recently as May. Something needs to be done about this situation. There's a good argument that Rishadan Port, all by itself, may be keeping new players away from Legacy; a playset of Rishadan Port makes up between 65–70% of the cost of building Death and Taxes. So hears hoping Wizards does something about Rishadan Port soon to bolster eternal formats online.
