Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
It's been a pretty quiet week as far as finance is concerned. In Standard, the biggest news is that many Standard staples from Kaladesh are decreasing in price with Torrential Gearhulk, Verdurous Gearhulk and even Smuggler's Copter dropping between 8–10% on the week. This trend will likely continue (a few% here, a few% there) over the next couple of months before things stabilize this winter around the release of Aether Revolt.
In Modern, it's time to dig through your old bulk common and land boxes to see if you have any Snow-Covered Mountain sitting around. With the recent hype regarding Skred Red, they are all the way up to $2.50 a piece. Most of the other winners in Modern are casual cards including Arcum Dagsson, Doubling Season, Tezzeret the Seeker, and Venser, the Sojourner, most likely as the result of players building with and upgrading their Commander 2016 decks.
Finally, Commander 2016 prices are continuing to free fall. There's two or three cards that increased between 1–3%, but there's an entire page full of losers, many in the 20–30% range, including nearly of the legendary creatures from the set. If you are buying singles rather than the decks, the longer you can wait the better. Based on past Commander releases, most of the cards will be near their floor by January, but some will continue to lose throughout the spring. Plus, there's really no rush, since none of the Commander 2015 cards have increased at all in the past year.
