Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
While Unstable officially released on Friday, the set hasn't had much of a financial impact. Like past Un-sets, most rares and mythics are worth little and the basic lands are the main source of value. The good news is that the lands are still holding a value of over $2 each, which means opening a box is actually a reasonable plan since you're guaranteed at least $72 in value, even if your non-lands are worthless.
In the world of black-border cards, both of the biggest winners this week come from Modern, even though one is still legal in Standard. As Foretold jumped 17% on the week to $4.41 on the back of a new, mono-blue version of Living End which has been performing well on Magic Online. Meanwhile, Mesmeric Orb increased 51% to over $20 after a strong performance from Esper Mill at the recent SCG Modern Classic in Baltimore. It wouldn't be surprising to see these prices stick, although at $20, Mesmeric Orb is a likely inclusion in a future Masters set.
Finally, on Magic Online, it's probably time to pick up any Iconic Masters staples you need. While there's still a ton of supply in the paper world, on Magic Online, drafts are over and the price of some staples have already started to tick up. If you're looking to pick up any of the chase cards to complete your Modern or Legacy decks, the time to do so is sooner rather than later.
