Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
This week in Magic finance, the reprints of Cabal Therapy doubled up to $15 following the original Judgment printing that is already pushing $30. The discard spell is a staple in Premodern and is once again on the rise in Legacy thanks to Oops! All Spells, which is currently the second most played deck in the format. If you opened any Masters sets a few years ago, you might have some copies sitting around in your bulk since the one-mana sorcery was reprinted multiple times. The reprints were literal bulk, $1 or less, until the start of 2026, but now they are more than worth pulling out.
Meanwhile, enchantress cards are on the rise thanks to the aura theme of the Silverquill Commander precon, with Retether doubling up this week as one of the best upgrades for the deck. While the sorcery was reprinted not super long ago in a Wilds of Eldraine Commander precon, versions are around $12 currently. Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice (extended) also doubled up this week for the same reason.
Finally, Commander Clash pet card Plaguebearer has completed its rise. Back in February, the card was a bulk rare, but after gaining another 72% this week, it's up to a massive $53 thanks to seeing some play in a Mono-Black Midrange deck in Premodern. At this point, I have no idea what the future holds for these super pricey Premodern cards. With no Masters sets on the horizon, reprints aren't especially likely, but it's also hard for me to wrap my brain around people actually paying $50 for a copy of Plaguebearer. Personally, I'd sell my copies while prices are high, but my confidence here is fairly low.
