Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |

This week in Magic finance, we have some Legacy action! Last weekend was Eternal Weekend, the biggest Legacy and Vintage event of the year, and a sweet Smallpox deck managed to make it all the way to the top four, in part thanks to the power of a new Edge of Eternities Commander land, Eumidian Hatchery (extended). The land works extremely well with Smallpox since you can play it early, charge it up with hatchery counters, and then when you Smallpox, you end up with a board full of 1/1 flying Insect tokens. The end result was Eumidian Hatchery (extended) gaining over 250% to just under $4.50. While I wouldn't expect a massive spike soon, I also wouldn't be surprised to see Eumidian Hatchery (extended) be a long-term grower as players continue to figure out how to take advantage of the effect.
Meanwhile, Pariah's Shield (retro) is on the rise, with the Ravnica Remastered version doubling up this week to over $4. The equipment is a popular addition to Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer Commander decks, which is driving demand and increasing the price.
Last week, we talked about Arena of the Ancients spiking, with the Chronicles reprint jumping from $1 to $30. Well, this week the original Legends printing followed suit, shooting up from $30 to $160. My initial thesis was that the buyout came from Commander hype thanks to some TikTok videos and articles based on them, although someone also pointed out that the card might be seeing play in the Old School format, which could also be at least part of the rise. At this point, the card is the second most expensive from Chronicles behind City of Brass, which doesn't seem especially sustainable to me—but at this point, who knows?
