Pioneer Peak: The Process (Pioneer, Magic Online)

I was going about my day and then I saw a sweet Dimir list pop up in the 5-0 section so I had to share this list with you all!

Loading Indicator

Well, my version slightly noodled around with the sideboard but the original list was piloted to a 5-0 by kiko and I fell in love because of the main deck Leyline of the Void and Glint-Sleeve Siphoner aka hyper Dark Confidant!

Gameplan

The deck feels like a Dimir midrange deck and the maindeck Leyline of the Void comes with some very sweet synergies.

Since our opponent's cards will always be in exile, we will always get the 'enters the battlefield' clause of our cards. We also can process the cards underneath Brain Maggot so a dream curve would be T1 Thoughtseize, T2 Brain Maggot, and then T3 Wasteland Strangler for maximum disruption and value. Also, I was trying to figure out when to mulligan for Leyline of the Void and I was pretty unlucky with finding it in most matches but the deck should still be able to play a game without Leyline on turn 0.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

A card I've missed dearly in Standard, The Scarab God, is a house in this deck as we can do some draw step Brain Maggot or bring back an Ulamog's Nullifier to counter some more spells!

Conclusion

** SPOILER ALERT **

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

The deck ended the league with a 4-1 record and it was such a blast! I love the idea of a Dimir midrange deck. At first, I thought the deck looked a little anemic on paper but after playing the deck, it was pretty fun. Things I'd love to see added to the deck would be more ways to deal with planeswalkers like Murderous Rider or a few Noxious Grasp out of the sideboard. I'm not entirely sold on the Drown in the Loch out of the sideboard either. Granted, it seems like that's a card I want in the matchups where we take out Leyline of the Void. I also wasn't a huge fan of the Mystical Dispute. They felt medium to low impact so any amount of those spells could just be dropped for more planeswalker removal or a sweeper effect.

As always, thanks for watching! See ya at the next one.
