Single Scoop: Obscura's Guardian Angels

When Kaldheim released. angels were a cute meme but now there's a very real possibility that the deck has legs (or wings?) to stand on!

This card looks like a simple 2/2, but this card enables so many things and grows our angelic mob out of reach of a bunch of burn-based removal. It also makes going into combat with Angels a bit rough as they're in the air and thiccccccccccccc. It turns out Orzhov Angels was actually kinda decent week 0 of Standard but we're missing out on some seriously sweet creatures and spells! What does blue give us?

One of the biggest issues we had as an angel deck was our value engine. After we were swept away by a board wipe, it'd almost feel hopeless, but thanks to the addition of blue, we gain access to Linvala, Shield of Sea Gate which allows us to protect ourselves from destroy effects or targeted removal and abilities. Just ignore Linvala's party text as that will never be relevant. We also gain access to Connive to grow our angels even more thanks to Raffine, Scheming Seer. The ability to loot and dig for better threats is huge and the +1/+1 counters can be relevant with cards like Sanctuary Warden. Lastly, we have instant speed ways to reanimate our threats like Linvala or Raffine thanks to Obscura Charm. We've also got a way to counter sweepers like Farewell which doesn't care about indestructible! And at its worst, Charm is a removal spell. We've also got additional spells like Void Rend and Obscura Interceptor because I love these cards too much to not play.

Conclusion

This deck is clunky and durdles pretty hard but can close a game pretty quickly by setting up a hard to break defense in Linvala and Obscura charm's versatility. I think a card I'd like to add another copy of is Sanctuary Warden as that played real nice with Youthful Valkyrie and Giada. Another thing to note is the Eradicator Valkyrie, which was just thrown in there as a sweet singleton that can swing freely and not worry about The Wandering Emperor! The deck really forces opponents to have the answer and can back up our threats. This deck could be a serious midrange threat and may be better than tier 2 for you angel fanatics!
