Single Scoop: Mono-White Lifegain (Standard, Magic Arena)
How much life is too much life? Can Ajani's Pridemate carry us?
Gameplan
This week I wanted to do something with Ajani, Strength of the Pride.
The card just makes more Ajani's Pridemate, which is humorous to me so I wanted to see if we could build a lifegain deck out of what we have in our collection. I know the build isn't 100% optimal but we played with what we had!
Even without all the cards, we can still have some aggressive starts with Ajani's Pridemate.
Since Pridemate wants us to gain life, naturally I would try to throw in the Angel package as that is always fun because we get to play Bishop of Wings!
Right now in standard, there are actually some pretty sweet angels but one of the cooler and more budget options right now is Angel of Vitality.
The card adds to our lifegain and can be a 3 mana 4/4 flier which is an absurd stat line. It also gives us more things to do early outside of just Resplendent Angel when it comes to curving with Bishop of Wings.
Conclusion
The deck definitely felt like a Frankenstein deck...that's probably because it is. The deck really didn't have any crazy card draw or ways to manipulate its top decks which hurt. Also, the deck felt clunky and I feel like that's mostly a deckbuilder error than anything else. I think next time, I should just build a cat tribal deck. I think Selesnya Cats could be fun! I know some of you out there definitely have a finer tuned lifegain deck and I'd love to see what you're all playing so let me know in the comments!
