Single Scoop: MarDOOM! (Standard, Magic Arena)
I missed the train on playing MarDoom Foretold when it was at its peak in popularity, but the deck piloted by Tzio recently took down a standard challenge. This lines up perfectly with Kaldheim's release as Kaldheim has revealed that Sagas like Showdown of the Skalds will be coming. With these sagas in mind, it got me in the spirit to finally take the Mardu variant of Doom Foretold for a spin.
Gameplan
The deck is extremely grindy so if you're into those play styles, this deck will be a treat for you. We grind our opponents out with Doom Foretold and Yorion, Sky Nomad to blink a ton of our enchantments for more value. We're for the most part a typical Doom deck but with a little bit of spice in red.
With the addition of red, we gain access to some sweet early interaction in Omen of the Forge. We also got some help for rogues with Ox of Agonas. Lastly, we get to use Ruinous Ultimatum as a clean sweep for our opponent's board which can be extremely helpful.
Conclusion
The inclusion of red definitely gave us some great answers. The variants of Doom Foretold all have pretty sweet reasons to pilot each version, but the Mardu version has me the most excited because of the Sagas we're getting from Kaldheim. The deck is powerful as is and definitely can hold its own in the best of one format. I'll be looking to do another video of MarDoom after we gain access to the new cards.
