Cuddly Soft Combo #4
Today we are going to look at the ultimate enforcer, the queen of the hunt, the champion of the Kithkin: Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile. Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile is an often overlooked Commander not just because of her Kithkin size, but because her abilities at first glance are somewhat unimpressive. But when built around she becomes a force to be reckoned with and a great deal of fun to play.
Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile is 2/3 for 2 colorless and 2 white mana. She has first strike and a very unique ability to tap and deal 2 damage to each attacking or blocking creature target player controls. When you pair her with equipment like Gorgon Flail, her tap ability can devastate hordes of attackers. When Brigid’s armies attack, she can also devastate blockers with Kusari-Gama. She is a true equipment General like Kemba, Kha Regent, but she’s better because she doesn’t cause allergy attacks (cat humor). To ensure her success you have to a large selection of armaments. Cards like Basilisk Collar, Quietus Spike, Sword of Kaldra, Gorgon’s Head, Blight Sickle, Scythe of the Wretched and Neko-Te.
Another combo you could build into the deck is Loxodon Warhammer and Well of Lost Dreams. When a wave of creatures attack you, just tap Brigid gain a bunch of life, then draw a bunch of cards. This is especially good considering the lack of card draw that White has access to.
A good combo for when you have a deathtouch weapon on Brigid is Thornbite Staff. Kill a bunch of attackers, then Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile untaps to do it all over again for the next opponent who wants to swing out.
Because she is such a crucial component you will have to find ways of protecting her. Seeing how she likes equipment so much, I recommend fitting her with a Darksteel Plate. Just remember, she needs an extra small when you go shopping.
All and all she is an excellent Commander and I highly recommend checking her out. When I played her, I used her more as a political tool; protecting weaker opponents so they can take down a stronger player. When one opponent was left, I would then turn my army towards them killing all their blockers and win the game.
Stay tuned combo fans there is plenty more to come.
