Fish Five-0: Temur Deeproot Phoenix (Standard, Magic Arena)

To continue this week we're doing another user submitted list! Per the request of Candyman101x I've tuned the list a bit more to my liking.

Gameplan

The gameplan is quite simple, we're still a typical Izzet Phoenix deck. We're going to try to fire off a ton of spells and bring back Arclight Phoenix but we do get some spice out of green. Deeproot Champion will be one of our other win conditions as it gets out of hand quickly with how many cheap spells we have. Another thing of note is that if your opponent has Shock in their deck, make sure to hold Deeproot Champion so you can fire off multiple spells all in one turn.

The splash of green also gives us some fun cards out of the sideboard in Hydroid Krasis to grind out the long games and gain us life. We also have Crushing Canopy to deal with problematic enchantments like Wilderness Reclamation and Search for Azcanta

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

Conclusion

It turns out no matter what color we add to the deck, Arclight Phoenix is just a powerful card. The addition of green was definitely spicy but I don't know if it's worth it unless you've got the wildcards laying around. The times when you get to make Deeproot Champion huge is hilarious and very appealing but the number of wildcards required to add a third color can be taxing on your collection. Regardless the deck was a blast and thank you so much for the submission Candyman101x! If any of you ever have decklists you'd like to see get played, feel free to reach out and I'll try to have another viewer submission week!
