Fish Five-0: Azorius Skynet (Standard, Magic Arena)

Are you a fan of cheap evasive creatures? If so, lets take to the air with this sweet Azorius list.

Gameplan

We function on a low mana curve with a bunch of cheap threats that just spiral out of control thanks to Empyrean Eagle and other anthem effects like Venerated Loxodon.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

The Eagle helps us turn our tiny little critters like Healer's Hawk and Faerie Miscreant into major threats so try not to deploy this until you've got a ton of pressure in the early game.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Where's Winged Words ? To be completely honest, I thought I would love a two mana Divination but I think the card advantage plus body that something like Faerie Miscreant just feels better. Every time I cast this card it didn't apply any pressure and we lost too much tempo.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

I'm a huge fan of Dovin in this style of deck as Dovin provides us with a 1/1 flying threat while also gaining us life and potentially ultimating pretty fast. I like the one in the side for the matchups that are grindy and are filled with sweepers.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

With how many creatures we need to counter right now like Cavalier of Thorns and Frilled Mystic it's nice to have a card that can counter anything. Sure the card isn't great in the late-game but we're trying to have the victory within one or two attacks by the time we hit the late game. This helps us keep the pressure going and I promise you opponents will play around this often.

Conclusion

The deck post-board slows down a bit to get a bit more controlling but I like that approach. I could be biased as I do enjoy my control decks. The only difference here is that we get to actually put a clock on our opponents as there are ton of decks that can go big if we sit around for too long. The deck does mulligan often as we play very few lands so don't be surprised if you're mulling to five or six every game. Has this deck brought you some success? Let me know how you built it in the comments or reach out on Twitter or Twitch.

See you at the next one!
