Duskmourn: House of Horror Removal List


This is a list of all the removal in Duskmourn: House of Horror, divided into permanent creature removal, temporary creature removal (such as bounce, tap, and falter effects), non-creature removal, and off-battlefield removal (hand, stack, and graveyard).

  • Rooms with a Door that functions as removal have the mana cost of that Door listed. (There are no rooms where both Doors have a removal effect.)
  • Osseous Sticktwister is not listed as creature removal or off-battlefield removal because opponents can choose to take damage instead.
  • Leyline of the Void and Valgavoth, Terror Eater are not listed as off-battlefield removal because they don't remove cards already in an opponent's graveyard.
  • Special Guest cards are not included since they only occur in one out of 64 booster packs, and only three of the ten Special Guests in the set serve as removal (Expropriate, Damnation, and Unholy Heat; Noxious Revival can be used to remove a card from an opponent's graveyard, but would only be used in that manner in exceptional circumstances).
  • I'm not listing Planeswalker removal because there's only one Planeswalker in the set, and it is a Mythic Rare.

While Duskmourn: House of Horrors provides good removal, it also has many creatures that generate card advantage. Removal that is cheap and/or flexible is always going to be drafted early, but I expect those creatures will often be higher picks than generic removal (although you'll always want to run at least a handful of removal spells to deal with opposing bombs, even if those spells are expensive and inflexible).

Duskmourn also has more mass removal than usual. White has Split Up and Restricted Office // Lecture Hall, Black has Let's Play a Game and Meathook Massacre II, and Red has Pyroclasm, The Rollercrusher Ride, and Waltz of Rage. All but Let's Play a Game and Pyroclasm are Rare or Mythic, and those two only take out smaller creatures, but there's enough mass removal in aggregate that you may want to avoid overextending against an opponent who appears to be holding back on playing creatures.

Trapped in the Screen Common Enchantment Ward {2} (Whenever this enchantment becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays {2}.) When Trapped in the Screen enters, exile target artifact, creature, or enchantment an opponent controls until Trapped in the Screen leaves the battlefield.
Split Up Rare Sorcery Choose one — • Destroy all tapped creatures. • Destroy all untapped creatures.
Unidentified Hovership Rare Artifact Flying When Unidentified Hovership enters, exile up to one target creature with toughness 5 or less. When Unidentified Hovership leaves the battlefield, the exiled card's owner manifests dread. Crew 1
Fear of Abduction Uncommon Enchantment Creature As an additional cost to cast this spell, exile a creature you control. Flying When Fear of Abduction enters, exile target creature an opponent controls. When Fear of Abduction leaves the battlefield, put each card exiled with it into its owner's hand. 5/5
Blue Unable to Scream Common Enchantment Enchant creature Enchanted creature loses all abilities and is a Toy artifact creature with base power and toughness 0/2 in addition to its other types. As long as enchanted creature is face down, it can't be turned face up.
Stay Hidden, Stay Silent Uncommon Enchantment Enchant creature When Stay Hidden, Stay Silent enters, tap enchanted creature. Enchanted creature doesn't untap during its controller's untap step. {4}{U}{U}: Shuffle enchanted creature into its owner's library, then manifest dread. Activate only as a sorcery.
Duskmourn's Domination Uncommon Enchantment Enchant creature You control enchanted creature. Enchanted creature gets -3/-0 and loses all abilities.
Black Fear of Lost Teeth Common Enchantment Creature When Fear of Lost Teeth dies, it deals 1 damage to any target and you gain 1 life. 1/1
Final Vengeance Common Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature or enchantment. Exile target creature.
Winter's Intervention Common Instant Winter's Intervention deals 2 damage to target creature. You gain 2 life.
Nowhere to Run Uncommon Enchantment Flash When Nowhere to Run enters, target creature an opponent controls gets -3/-3 until end of turn. Creatures your opponents control can be the targets of spells and abilities as though they didn't have hexproof. Ward abilities of those creatures don't trigger.
Sporogenic Infection Uncommon Enchantment Enchant creature When Sporogenic Infection enters, target player sacrifices a creature other than enchanted creature. When enchanted creature is dealt damage, destroy it.
Murder Common Instant Destroy target creature.
Withering Torment Uncommon Instant Destroy target creature or enchantment. You lose 2 life.
Come Back Wrong Rare Sorcery Destroy target creature. If a creature card is put into a graveyard this way, return it to the battlefield under your control. Sacrifice it at the beginning of your next end step.
Let's Play a Game Uncommon Sorcery Delirium — Choose one. If there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard, choose one or more instead. • Creatures your opponents control get -1/-1 until end of turn. • Each opponent discards two cards. • Each opponent loses 3 life and you gain 3 life.
Live or Die Uncommon Instant Choose one — • Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. • Destroy target creature.
Miasma Demon Uncommon Creature Flying When Miasma Demon enters, you may discard any number of cards. When you do, up to that many target creatures each get -2/-2 until end of turn. 5/4
Meathook Massacre II Mythic Enchantment When Meathook Massacre II enters, each player sacrifices X creatures. Whenever a creature you control dies, you may pay 3 life. If you do, return that card under your control with a finality counter on it. Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, they may pay 3 life. If they don't, return that card under your control with a finality counter on it.
Vile Mutilator Uncommon Creature As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature or enchantment. Flying, trample When Vile Mutilator enters, each opponent sacrifices a nontoken enchantment, then sacrifices a nontoken creature. 6/5
Red Trial of Agony Uncommon Sorcery Choose two target creatures controlled by the same opponent. That player chooses one of those creatures. Trial of Agony deals 5 damage to that creature, and the other can't block this turn.
Scorching Dragonfire Common Instant Scorching Dragonfire deals 3 damage to target creature or planeswalker. If that creature or planeswalker would die this turn, exile it instead.
/ Betrayer's Bargain Uncommon Instant As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature or enchantment or pay {2}. Betrayer's Bargain deals 5 damage to target creature. If that creature would die this turn, exile it instead.
Pyroclasm Uncommon Sorcery Pyroclasm deals 2 damage to each creature.
Chainsaw Rare Artifact When Chainsaw enters, it deals 3 damage to up to one target creature. Whenever one or more creatures die, put a rev counter on Chainsaw. Equipped creature gets +X/+0, where X is the number of rev counters on Chainsaw. Equip {3}
Glassworks // Shattered Yard Common Enchantment (You may cast either half. That door unlocks on the battlefield. As a sorcery, you may pay the mana cost of a locked door to unlock it.) Screaming Nemesis Mythic Creature Haste Whenever Screaming Nemesis is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to any other target. If a player is dealt damage this way, they can't gain life for the rest of the game. 3/3
Infernal Phantom Uncommon Creature Eerie — Whenever an enchantment you control enters and whenever you fully unlock a Room, Infernal Phantom gets +2/+0 until end of turn. When Infernal Phantom dies, it deals damage equal to its power to any target. 2/3
The Rollercrusher Ride Mythic Enchantment Delirium — If a source you control would deal noncombat damage to a permanent or player while there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard, it deals double that damage instead. When The Rollercrusher Ride enters, it deals X damage to each of up to X target creatures.
Boilerbilges Ripper Common Creature When Boilerbilges Ripper enters, you may sacrifice another creature or enchantment. When you do, Boilerbilges Ripper deals 2 damage to any target. 4/4
Impossible Inferno Common Instant Impossible Inferno deals 6 damage to target creature. Delirium — If there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard, exile the top card of your library. You may play it until the end of your next turn.
Waltz of Rage Rare Sorcery Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to each other creature. Until end of turn, whenever a creature you control dies, exile the top card of your library. You may play it until the end of your next turn.
Fear of Burning Alive Uncommon Enchantment Creature When Fear of Burning Alive enters, it deals 4 damage to each opponent. Delirium — Whenever a source you control deals noncombat damage to an opponent, if there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard, Fear of Burning Alive deals that amount of damage to target creature that player controls. 4/4
Overlord of the Boilerbilges Mythic Enchantment Creature Impending 4—{2}{R}{R} (If you cast this spell for its impending cost, it enters with four time counters and isn't a creature until the last is removed. At the beginning of your end step, remove a time counter from it.) Whenever Overlord of the Boilerbilges enters or attacks, it deals 4 damage to any target. 5/5
Green Coordinated Clobbering Uncommon Sorcery Tap one or two target untapped creatures you control. They each deal damage equal to their power to target creature an opponent controls.

The creature you control deals damage equal to its power to the creature an opponent controls.

Sawblade Skinripper Uncommon Creature Menace {2}, Sacrifice another creature or enchantment: Put a +1/+1 counter on Sawblade Skinripper. At the beginning of your end step, if you sacrificed one or more permanents this turn, Sawblade Skinripper deals that much damage to any target. 3/2
