Commander Clash S2 Episode 9: White Elephant

Hello and welcome to Commander Clash, a video series where several MTGGoldfish contributors battle in a four player Commander game for fun and bragging rights. This week, instead of building a deck for ourselves to play, each of us have designed a deck for another member of the group to play: Richard built one for Tom, Tom for Tomer, Tomer for Seth, and Seth for Richard. It's kind of like a gift exchange where we try to design a deck that best fits the pilot's playstyle. Here's what we came up with:

  • Seth has an answer for everything with a modular "Lucky Charms" list led by Cromat
  • Richard goes big with a Dragon Reanimation deck with Adun Oakenshield
  • Tom aggressively ramps and then aggressively smashes face with Mina and Denn, Wildborn
  • Tomer drains the life out of everyone to fuel shenangians led by Obzedat, Ghost Council

The games ended up short enough that we managed to record two of them for you guys. Hope you enjoy them! But first, quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Seth's Deck (Lucky Charms)

Richard's Deck (Dragon Reanimation)

Tom's Deck (Ramp Aggro)

Tomer's Deck (Lifedrain)

Post-Game Thoughts

The decks all turned out really sweet and had their moments. Each person had a good chance to win -- except maybe Seth. I think after seeing it playtested, I'd make some tweaks to the Lucky Charms list, cutting a few more of the worst charms (Emerald Charm, Dawn Charm, Sapphire Charm, for starters), cut Maelstrom Archangel, add Cloven Casting for funsies, and then include some viable win conditions such as Door to Nothingness

Next Week: Kaladesh

We're building decks around the legendary creatures from the newest set, Kaladesh. Expect to see a bunch of new cards being showcased and some sweet new interactions! Can you guess which commanders each person picked?

As always, we encourage you to leave us a comment on this article, on YouTube, or on Twitter @BudgetCommander. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, be it thoughts on the game, ideas on how to improve the series, or suggestions for future themes; we read all of them and bring them up in discussions. Thanks for watching!
