Commander Clash S5 E21: Anything Goes! (Gorm & Virtus vs. Krav & Regna vs. Nicol Bolas vs. The Ur-Dragon)
Welcome back to Commander Clash! We're doing Anything Goes for this episode, where all of us are allowed to play any deck we want. Due to American Thanksgiving messing up our recording schedule, Vince couldn't join us for this episode, so Crim returns to take the spot of our favorite Brit for this video. Here's what we brought:
- Crim plays a Discard deck, destroying his opponent's hands in service of the elder dragon, Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
- Richard plays a Lifegain Tokens Sacrifice deck with partners Krav, the Unredeemed and Regna, the Redeemer
- Seth forces his opponents to make terrible blocks and then punishes them for it with partners Gorm the Great and Virtus the Veiled
- Tomer plays a Dragon Token Tribal deck, using powerful Dragon lords to beef up his Go Wide army, led by The Ur-Dragon
We've got two partner pairs never before played on Commander Clash! How will they fare? Let's find out! But first, a quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash. and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Post-Game Thoughts
Seth demonstrated that Virtus the Veiled is better than I initially gave it credit for: it's a downright scary threat for any slow deck! I was really impressed with how it performed. I guess I'll need to take another shot at building a version of my own.
As for my deck, I love it despite it not performing very well these two games. The idea of the deck is to Go Wide with tokens, turn them into Dragons with Arcane Adaptation / Conspiracy, and then abuse powerful Dragon support cards. Stuff like Dragon Tempest, Scourge of Valkas, and Utvara Hellkite are good when you're casting one big Dragon a turn but absolutely busted once you're dropping Prossh, Skyraider of Kher and he comes with five additional "Dragon" tokens. I feel like I drew worse than average both games, but also I can make the deck better with a few simple tweaks. When I run this deck again, this will be my changes:
- Dune-Brood Nephilim
- Storm Herd
+ Anguished Unmaking
+ Assassin's Trophy (or Swords to Plowshares)
That gives me a bit more spot removal to stop quick threats from running over me. The deck is well-suited for the late game, but we need to make sure we can survive until then.
