Commander Clash S2 Episode 1: Eldritch Moon
Hello and welcome to Commander Clash, a video series where several MTGGoldfish contributors battle in a four player Commander game for fun and bragging rights. We took a week off, but now we're back and excited to reveal our newest member of the crew: Tom from MTGRadio! For this week, we've all chosen brand new commanders from Eldritch Moon to build our decks around. Here's what we've got:
- Seth swarms the board with spiders in a Tokens deck led by Ishkanah, Grafwidow
- Richard plunders the graveyard for value with his Tribal Zombie deck led by Gisa and Geralf
- Tom gets aggressive, smashing everything and everyone with Ulrich of the Krallenhorde
- Tomer opens the armory, busting out every sweet equipment to wield with Bruna, the Fading Light
The decks showcased this week are unlike any we've done before; even Richard's Zombie deck has some surprising twists. The resulting game turned out fantastic! Check it out! But first, a quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Post-Game Thoughts
I think this game turned out to be one of the best in the series and is an excellent way to introduce Tom. Each deck got to show off what it could do, and everyone got a good shot at taking the game: first Richard almost won until he got absurdly unlucky, then I was a turn away from winning until Tom knocked me out with an amazing play, and finally Seth cranks out a win in style with some really cool card synergies. We also got to see a bunch of new cards from Eldritch Moon in action!
I personally was very happy with how my deck played. Because Mono-White is the weakest color and has had consistently poor showings in previous games, I decided to go waaaay overbudget to nab the best options for card advantage available: these include Land Tax + Scroll Rack, Sun Titan, Sword of Fire and Ice, Mind's Eye, and more. It paid off! I got to meld Brisela, Voice of Nightmares, and was a turn away from assembling Kaldra from Helm of Kaldra + Sword of Kaldra + Shield of Kaldra. Goofy card combos like those are what I love the most about Commander.
Next Week: Anything Goes!
We're ditching thematic deckbuilding restrictions for next week and building anything we want. Each of us have a sweet deck idea we've been kicking around, so this will be our opportunity to show it off. Knowing what zany stuff we've busted out before, this should be sweet!
As always, we encourage you to leave us a comment on this article, on YouTube, or on Twitter @BudgetCommander. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, be it thoughts on the game, ideas on how to improve the series, or suggestions for future themes; we read all of them and bring them up in discussions. Thanks for watching!
