Playing Pauper: Blue Stompy
Welcome one and all to more sweet Playing Pauper! Apparently there's room for more than one blue aggro deck in the format, because today we're battling with Blue Stompy, as piloted by mencus on Magic Online.

The Deck
The creatures in the deck aren't exactly optimal, but you take what you can get when it comes to Blue decks and being aggressive. Delver of Secrets and Elusive Spellfist are the all-stars with the rest being more of a supporting cast.
The cheap and plentiful card filtering helps to flip Delver of Secrets and trigger Elusive Spellfist as much as possible.
The countermagic in the deck exists to keep the opponent off balance. If the meta changed somewhat, I'd prefer to fit in more Counterspells and fewer main deck Gut Shots.
The interaction this deck packs is cheap and varied and exists to help its creatures attack unopposed to kill the opponent as quickly as possible.
The Sideboard
A variety of countermagic is in the sideboard to deal with threats from different types of decks.
Annul and Steel Sabotage offer a small hedge against Affinity.
The rest of these one-ofs combat various strategies. You'd have to ask the deck's creator why the sideboard is so varied, but it did the job well enough during the league I played out, so there may be a method to the madness.
Conclusion
What I think the deck really needs is a few more creatures, though I'm not sure if any blue or colorless creatures exist that fit within the current framework. If only Kiln Fiend were blue. Until more parts get printed for the deck, I'm not sure it will ever be correct to play it over Mono Blue Delver, but it's definitely an interesting decision if you want a change of pace and to be a bit more aggressive.
Thanks for tuning in, and until next time, keep playing pauper!
