Mirror Breaking the Alchemy Format!
Gameplan
If you tuned into the MTGNeon championships this past weekend, you'll know that Jim Davis cleaned house on Day 1, and he did it with the best color shard in Magic, Grixis! The deck was a sweet midrange pile that played all the cards I loved like Kaito Shizuki, and the card that shocked me most was Fable of the Mirror-Breaker!
I've been sleeping on this card as it didn't feel like it was worth three mana, but after jamming games with it, I thoroughly loved every chapter of this saga. The best part is when you flip the saga. Although you don't get to immediately activate the backside in Reflection of Kiki-Jiki, the backside does represent a way to almost hard lock an opponent out of the game after a certain point. If you're able to get this card back after a full turn, you'll be able to instant speed create a token of cards like Citystalker Connoisseur !!! This means on your opponent's draw step, you can discard whatever is in their hand. If they're empty-handed then the game is pretty much over as they'll never have access to the drawn card unless it's an Instant speed effect.
Conclusion
I do think the deck does run some interesting choices like Power Word Kill as so many threats fall into its restrictions. I also think I want more hard removal in the deck. Maybe not in the main but at least out of the sideboard. Outside of that, the deck plays just like how you'd imagine a Grixis midrange plays, and it's a ton of fun!
