Commander Clash S11 E5: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Last season on Commander Clash, Tomer tried really hard to get Dralnu, Lich Lord to work as his commander, but the harsh drawback made it that so once the game started, he had a hard time ever getting it on the battlefield out of fear that something would damage it and force him to sacrifice all of his permanents. This got us wondering: what other legends exist with Dralnu-level drawbacks? We asked on Twitter and got a ton of good suggestions before settling on a short list of commanders with the harshest drawbacks in all of Magic. We each picked one to build a deck around, with the idea being that our deck had to focus on making the commander good (not just playing a normal deck and trying to avoid our commander). What could possibly go wrong? Here's what we've got:

  • Crim tries to avoid killing accidentally killing himself by casting his commander Phage the Untouchable from the command zone.
  • Richard plays a deck full of things with painful enters-the-battlefield triggers, led by Lord of Tresserhorn.
  • Seth tries to get Haakon, Stromgald Scourge from his command zone to his hand, from his hand to his graveyard, and then from his graveyard to the battlefield so it can do things.
  • Philipp looks to make the rest of the table kill each other with his commander, by pillow-forting up behind Karona, False God.
