Baldur's Gate: The Rising Tide

Howdy folks! It's Joe Dyer here, and while most of you know me from This Week in Legacy and Vintage 101, I am back again with yet another MTGGoldfish Adventure for Dungeons & Dragons! You might recall last year we released "The Golden Fish", a dungeon crawl adventure set in the Forgotten Realms that was released around the time of Adventures in the Forgotten Realms.

This time around, we are headed for the Gate itself with the recent release of Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate with an adventure inspired by Baldur's Gate itself. I give you all: "Baldur's Gate: The Rising Tide - A Forgotten Realms Adventure," an adventure for 10th-13th level characters for Dungeons & Dragons 5e.

For this particular adventure, I decided to be a little more ambitious and come up with a multi-part adventure that involved the members of the adventuring party doing more detective work that would lead them out of the Gate and into the region surrounding it, discovering a plot to cause a war that would tear Baldur's Gate apart. This adventure is broken up into four primary Chapters, and each one is geared towards a slightly different feel, with the first Chapter being a full-on closed room murder mystery.

I would not be at this point with this adventure, however, without the people who have helped me along the way. I began working on this adventure roughly around December 2021, and received a great amount of creative feedback on it from three individuals: Minhajul Hoq (a great friend of mine from the Legacy community who is a very experienced DM), Billy Mitchell (of the Dark Depths Podcast, and also a very experienced D&D player), and Scott Campbell (my friend and co-host of the podcast The Astrolab as well as another well traveled D&D player). It is an understatement of the most epic proportions the amount of help provided by these three and I greatly appreciate all of the feedback and ideas they helped provide.

Furthermore, big thanks to the continued amazing work that is provided by Adriano Kitani and the simply stellar artwork that he did for this adventure. Again, we have our same party of myself, Seth, Crim, and Tomer from "The Golden Fish" seen entering the city of Baldur's Gate, ready to face the challenges of this adventure. Very awesome stuff indeed!

Also, continued shoutouts to both D&D Beyond for the tools they provide, as well as to the YouTube channel ran by Matthew Colville and his series called "Running the Game". The content he provides has been immensely helpful in the creation of this adventure.

Where Can I Download This?

"Baldur's Gate: The Rising Tide" can be downloaded from DMsGuild right over here! As we did with "The Golden Fish", this adventure is "Pay What You Want", which means that you can indeed download this for as low as $0, but you can choose to pay for this content to help support the work we've all put into it!

Wrapping Up

I very much want to do another one of these in the future, especially if we are getting any further D&D based Magic sets at some point. I also have plenty of ideas kicking around on various adventures for different campaign settings than Forgotten Realms (such as Eberron which is my favorite all time campaign setting) so I might do more with these at some point through DMsGuild. I hope you all enjoy this adventure, and if you do get a chance to check it out, please consider giving it a rating and a review over on DMsGuild. It is really appreciated and helps with more visibility!

Until next time, keep adventuring!
