Commander Clash S2 Episode 11: Alphabet Soup
Hello and welcome to Commander Clash, a video series where several MTGGoldfish contributors battle in a four player Commander game for fun and bragging rights. This week, each of us have picked a letter of the alphabet and every nonland card in our deck must start with that letter. We call it, "Alphabet Soup"! Let's see what we came up with
- Seth has picked "C" for Control (aka Counterspells!) led by Crosis, the Purger
- Richard chose "R" for Richard (aka White Limited Jank) championed by Rafiq of the Many
- Tom veers from his usual playstyle to play an "M" Spellslinger deck with Mizzix of the Izmagnus
- Tomer selected "S," stacking sweet staples supplemented by Sen Triplets
This is one of our most severe deck restrictions this week, so synergistic "theme" decks were difficult to build, yet nonethless we came up with some sweet stuff. Hope you enjoy it! But first, quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Post-Game Thoughts
I thought I was very clever this game: I saw the Control Magic in Seth's hand with Seer's Vision and decided to bait him into using it on my Sen Triplets. The idea was that I would then play Scourglass and immediately pop it, wiping the board clear of everything except for lands and artifacts -- which Sen Triplets are, so they would live, the Control Magic would be destroyed, and I'd be way ahead of the rest of the table with the Triplets back on my side. I even had Swan Song ready in case Seth tried to counter. It was going to be fantastic!
That is, until I realized Scourglass can only be activated at the beginning of your upkeep.
Argh.
Then there was the goof about not knowing how many tokens Reef Worm produces; I should've used Seal of Doom on the Rhox instead. Finally, I probably should've used Spelljack on the Metallurgic Summonings, but I think that's at least defensible: I wouldn't have gotten any use from that card, Richard could've still pulled out a big threat to win the game, and Tom had only shown Magmatic Insight and Mind's Desire as his only instants/sorceries by this point in the game.
The game itself was neat. I like silly deck restrictions and this was one of the jankiest. We got to see the true might of the Rhino tribe! How often do you get to see that in Commander?
Next Week: Halloween Special!
To celebrate my favorite holiday, we're going to be duking it out with Halloween-themed decks! I'm sure you can guess some of the themes, but I think at least one deck theme will surprise you! It's gonna be spooooky!
