Single Scoop: What If Our Opponents Didn't Have Lands? (Standard)
Gameplay
The list was piloted by Tomoyuki Matsuzawa and if you couldn't guess it, we're hoping to punish the ladder if they aren't playing an honest amount of basic lands.
We're hoping to cast Cleansing Wildfire a ton of times to keep our opponents off their resources. Right now, the format is loaded with 3 color decks and/or decks that only have 2-3 basic lands. If we're able to catch them off guard, we get to destroy all their lands and keep them stumbling for long enough for us to deploy Hullbreaker Horror or to start swinging with Hall of Storm Giants. Once we've fired off enough cleansing wildfires, we follow up with more wildfires and Field of Ruin thanks to Lier, Disciple of the Drowned.
Conclusion
The deck is gimmicky and probably not great in Best of One (Bo1) as Bo1 is hyper-aggressive and doesn't care if your opponent loses a few lands. However, this is definitely better in Bo3 where people are greedier and durdle harder. This is a fun deck when it gets going but needs help surviving the Bo1 ladder. I wonder if going Temur in standard Bo1 makes it better as we get more LD spells?
