Single Scoop: Updated Rogues (Explorer, Magic Arena)
Gameplay
As you already know, we're a tempo deck that's looking to just get in with cheap creatures like Thieves' Guild Enforcer and Soaring Thought-Thief! But why would we try to mill our opponents in a meta where Greasefang, Okiba Boss and a ton of other decks benefit from our milling?
Those decks are common and can punish us but there is some sideboard hate that we can play that won't exile the graveyards! Weathered Runestone is a sweet card here to shut off any permanents entering from the graveyard and from the library so it also shuts down Collected Company!
We've also got a sweet new counterspell in Make Disappear. The Casualty 1 does play a nice part in the deck. I like Mystical Dispute because it can potentially be one mana but the issue is when you have to pay full cost for a Dispute, its horrendous for the deck. However, Make Disappear is just two mana always and I absolutely love that!
Conclusion
We definitely got some sweet new tools but because of the way our deck plays in Bo1, we naturally struggle with Red Deck's aggression and Angels as they've got massive bodies and we just don't have enough removal that can deal with all of them. Without a sideboard, we pretty much need to try to dodge those matchups or draw well. Rogues feel so much better without the Crab so I think I'm going with that kind of build for now. I think Rogues are a solid tier 1.5 to tier 2 in Bo1 as Angels and RDW are a nightmare without a Sideboard. Still, its a lot of fun for tempo lovers out there!
