Fish Five-0: Rakdos N' Chill (Standard, Magic Arena)
Rakdos has been an archetype I've been having fun with in recent weeks as I love Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger, so naturally I had to make a video for the deck. I've been seeing people do well with variations of the deck but as I realized we mill ourselves a ton, I wanted to add a little aggression to our mill so I added some Creeping Chill
Gameplan
The deck is the Rakdos sacrifice deck we all know and love that uses our favorite cat and household appliance to grind our opponent's health totals down.
Of course we also have Mayhem Devil to continue to inflict more damage when we have one of our key cards in Witch's Oven but recently, the deck added a ton of sweet new cards from Theros: Beyond Death!
These two cards help us load up our graveyard so we can play Woe Strider, Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger, and other escape threats. This then made me want to add more reach into the deck by adding some Creeping Chill. It's not revolutionary in any way and does lower our creature count for hits off of Tymaret Calls the Dead but it gives us reach and a way to heal ourselves at the same time. This means our deck is just loaded with ways to deal damage to the opponent.
We kind of loosely become "Big Burn" with the addition of this card as our creatures usually burn our opponents. This, of course, means that cards like Leyline of the Void really hurt us but nobody really packs that right now. Is this card better than something else like Bonecrusher Giant? Probably not, but it is sweet when we flip it over thanks to Mire Triton and Tymaret Calls the Dead.
Conclusion
** SPOILER ALERT **
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
The deck performed quite well and landed us with a 5-1 league. The additional reach was a fun and sweet way to inflict damage and definitely made Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger constantly burning our opponents an issue. However, if you'd like to play a list without any chill...
As always, thanks for watching the content and the endless support <3. See you all at the next one.
