Fish Five-0: Esper Turbo Friends (Standard, Magic Arena)

We've got quite the super deck this week with some Esper Turbo Friends!

Gameplan

I'm sure you're aware this far into the season how sweet the Superfriends archetype is, and this time around we've got a special take. We still do our usual gameplan of flood the board with planeswalkers and control the board with Kaya's Wrath. We still can lock some opponents out with the prison feel of all the planeswalkers. I also really like that we can take advantage of The Elderspell as the card allows us to not only destroy our opponent's planeswalkers but our own to add counters to our other walkers to get an ultimate off. Well, what else does the deck do?

$ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00

We will usually close with these two as our opponents will have spent all their resources which means its time for us to get our second wind! The Wanderer prevents all noncombat damage that would be dealt to us so that means we lose absolutely no life using Command the Dreadhorde! This means we get to make our own Rise of the Dark Realms and reanimate everything. How sweet is that?

The return of Arclight Phoenix means I've called for some help from our favorite ghost hunter, Kaya, Orzhov Usurper

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Kaya also has other utilities like gaining us life against Red aggro and Mono White! She exiles Risk Factor and Mono White's plethora of one drops while also keeping Search for Azcanta from flipping and threatens a way to kill opponents with her -5.

Speaking of Kaya, we're on flavor with more Kaya things!

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

I'm in love with this card out of the sideboard. Maybe there's room to move a few to the main deck as draining our opponents each time they hit our walkers is sweet. Not only that, we can get to a point where we use Teferi, Time Raveler and bounce the oath back to draw a card and deal 3 damage and gain 3 again!

Conclusion

There are a few tweaks I'd like to make after playing this deck but the deck feels super strong! What a time to be playing standard when superfriends is actually a real archetype! Back to the changes. . . I'm looking to play a singleton copy of Ashiok, Dream Render post board. I'd also like to add Thief of Sanity into the sideboard but I can't tell if that's because I always want to play Thief or if it's a real game plan as our opponents will be so focused on dealing with our walkers that a Thief will continue the trend of must answer threats. The deck is a blast and I'll be messing around with this and John Rolf's Jeskai variant on my stream at some point.

See you at the next one!
