Deck Primer / Description
This is Deck Driver MTG's Mono Black Devotion list (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8RvKm6MVPg), listed here with Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools as commander and my own little addition of Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh as what seemed an obvious fit for a partner. I play this deck primarily with Braids, Arisen Nightmare in the command zone, but MTGGoldfish does not like having Rograkh in the Sideboard, so to the command zone they go for now! I have been liking this deck a lot, and am looking to slowly tweak it to fit my own playstyle and playgroup.
I have the other three main commander options in the Sideboard, the main one being the afforementioned Braids, but also Ayara, First of Locthwain (3 for devotion, drains, and is reliable card draw), and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician (control control control!).
Also in the Sideboard i have a handful of cards that I either feel could fit or have a purpose, though I've either not yet found a place for them, or they threaten to stray too far outside my general group's power level. Altar of the Pantheon generally helps the devotion elements of the deck while serving as ramp, while also being more effective if The Meathook Massacre is in the deck, though this card might be a tad bit above my groups level. Further testing required. Similarily, Toxic Deluge is here as a useful and flexible board wipe, and Phyrexian Obliterator is here as a creature for 4 , and fits the control theme. Crypt Ghast just seems like it could be a good fit in a deck running so many swamps, but I'm not yet sure if the added mana would be that useful. Tymaret, Chosen from Death does conflict with some of the graveyard theft, but could be a useful sideboard option that has devotion synergy that allows targeted graveyard hate.
Places i currently am looking to make cuts are the three 2 CMC discard creatures, as while they are efficient early plays that offer value as sacrifice pieces with a useful ETB/LTB effects in discard, these cards are not core to the decks strategy, and does mess with politics (people do hate discarding). I am also considering revamping the removal package, as I am unsure if it is as efficient as it could be at the current moment.
