Deck Primer / Description

The game plan of this deck is simple: Disrupt the opponent turns 1-3, get Teysa of the Ghost Council down ASAP, and protect her while she creates an overwhelming army of spirits.

Because she exiles herself on end step and doesn't return until your next upkeep, she is essentially immune to sorcery speed removal, so as long as the opponent is tapped out when you first cast her and she makes it to the first end step, she becomes incredibly hard to remove -- by the time our opponent has a chance to interact with her we have all our mana untapped and can protect her with blink effects like Cloudshift and cheat death effects like Supernatural Stamina, both of which have the added benefit of triggering her ETB to net us an extra Spirit token and up her intensity.

Although Teysa seems like she should be a spirit-typal commander, she usually creates more than enough of an army on her own, leaving us open to fill most of the rest of the deck with interaction:
-- Hand disruption like Duress and Mind Spike mainly serves to clear the way of counterspells so we can get Teysa down in the first place.
-- Tons of removal, taking the best of Black's efficient creature removal like Fatal Push and Go for the Throat and White's catch-all Banishing Light effects.
-- Patriar's Humiliation and Reprobation can strip the text off of enemy commanders while leaving them on the battlefield, really screwing up many opponents' game plans.
