Deck Primer / Description

This is a deck that aims to ramp into transforming Jacob into Hauken's Insight fairly quickly with a mix of ramp artifacts and cantrips so that you can land a number of potent bombs like Desolation Twin, One With The Multiverse, and The Temporal Anchor. This is, of course, a budget list, so it doesn't have really big bombs like Emrakul, the Promised End, Kozilek, the Great Distortion, or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, but that's fine since this deck is already fairly high power for most tables.

There are a number of budget options that I didn't include for the sake of not taking up too much time during your turn, such as any number of extra turn spells and stuff like Paradox Haze. I also didn't include the Enter the Infinite Thassa's Oracle combo because, quite frankly, it doesn't seem that fun to fish for such a relatively easy win.

I also notably have not included any untap creatures such as Vizier of Tumbling Sands or Kelpie Guide. I chose not to because even though they are more versatile than either ramp or effects to loot more with Hauken, I don't think that looting with Hauken more is actually all that good. You still only get to play 1 bomb per turn, so outside of card selection, they don't do much, they're also fairly poor late-game options most of the time, save for Vizier which is the only one I would include. They're worth including more if you have powerful mana rocks like Mana Vault or Mana Crypt though.

Basically just go for either card selection or ramp since Hauken provides bad card selection and creatures can get sniped a lot more easily than artifacts.

Some non-budget options that I think work really well

Thassa, God of the Sea (as long as you have enough creatures with blue pips to make her a creature)

Portal to Phyrexia is a ridiculous value engine with this deck since you'll get to reanimate all of your creatures

Phyrexian Metamorph

Sea Gate Restoration

Sensei's Divining Top/Scroll Rack (warning, slows down the pace of the game a lot)

Mana Drain

Archmage's Charm

Any free counterspells since you generate so much card advantage from Hauken and Co.

Isochron Scepter

Hullbreaker Horror

Minamo, School at Water's Edge

and any number of other staple cards, but those are the ones most relevant to Hauken himself.
