Masumaro, First to Live - My Large Son and his Great Grip
I've had a weird relationship with mono-green in Commander. Out of all the mono-coloured options, I've found mono-green to be the most one dimensional colour, with some of the least interesting cards available to raise up some of the more secondary strategies the colour can offer. Masumaro does his best to break this curse, and honestly, all I can ask from my large son is for him to do his best. Masumaro is one of the weirder "voltron" decks available from Kamigawa block, with the term arguably being inappropriate to describe the deck. We're more or less all-in on Masumaro, and making his as handsome and bulky as possible, but instead of slapping auras and equipment on our commander, we're going to instead try to put as many cards as we can into our hand.
We've got a couple of ways to do this:
Draw engines, varying from simple and consistent (Coercive Portal, The Immortal Sun, and Staff of Nin) to engines more reliant on having my Slam Jam Son in play (Triumph of Ferocity or Colossal Majesty.
One shot draw spells, often scaling with the size of Muscular Masumaro or any additional Maro donkeys we've deployed. Greater Good, Momentous Fall, Life's Legacy, etc.
Oopsie doopsie draw spells that are just classic adds for any style of mono-green deck. Harmonize, Praetor's Counsel, Nylea's Intervention and the sort.
Now once we've got a full grip of cards, we have to come to terms with none of our creatures having trample, or any reliable way of getting through to our opponents life totals. Well, it wouldn't be a green decklist from Wheeler without Berserk. Though the fun doesn't stop there, as we get to find other ways to take advantage of having such big beautiful boys. Surestrike Trident is a hilarious, yet effective-ish way of dishing out 20+ damage at instant speed, Monstrous Onslaught acts as a mono-green Plague Wind with the added benefit of being able to avoid any pesky Academy Rectors and the like, and Evolution Charm has the forgotten text of giving a creature flying. Flying. In mono-green.
The deck packs many tools for helping our large honks survive, such as Twin Booties Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots, Darksteel Plate to say no-no to any players looking to wrath the board, and the ever increasing(?) suite of mono-green counterspells such as Veil of Summer, Not of This World and uh Heroic Intervention I guess.
Either way, Masumaro helps spark joy and provide a fresh take on mono-green, while also dusting off some forgotten format gems. Oh, and of course we play Nyxbloom Ancient and Seedborn Muse because I mean, we're in green.
