Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive
|
|
Another quiet week on the finance front, but don't worry, things will start to heat up soon with Eldritch Moon spoilers set to shake up Standard.
Speaking of Standard, most of the movement is from cards in Mono-U Prison, including Day's Undoing (up 26% to $4.49), Engulf the Shore (up 12% to $1.40) and Jace's Sanctum (up 10% to $0.43). If there's one lesson I've learned from Budget Magic, it's that people love cheap decks, so when you see a pro playing what essentially amounts to a budget deck at a Grand Prix, you might as well pick up the mythics and maybe the rares as well. They are likely to spike as budget conscious players race to pick up the pieces of the deck.
For older formats, it looks like Unlimited is well on its way to joining Alpha and Beta as true collector items. In the past, collectors wanted black border copies, but cards from these sets are getting rare enough that now even the white bordered Unlimited cards have potential. Over the past two months, Alpha and Beta sets have been flat, while Unlimited has jumped nearly 11% in just 60 days and 73% in the last two years. While I know this info isn't relevant to most players, if you are looking for some old school goodness, you might want to get in on it soon.
Finally, for Magic Online players, the big news is the release of Eternal Masters. Wasteland started off at around 30 tix and almost immediately jumped to 40 tix, which is pretty much the same pattern we saw when the card was reprinted in Tempest Remastered. Otherwise, prices are down almost across the board. With sealed leagues firing now, most low end cards have more to lose over the next couple of weeks, but the next month or two will be a great time to pick up some Legacy and Vintage staples for your digital collection.
