This week Magic finance is mostly about Modern, with Kozilek's Return leading the way by more than doubling up to over $6. In the last few weeks, the sweeper has went from essentially unplayed in Modern to a staple in Eldrazi decks as a way to answer aggro builds like Energy.

Speaking of Modern, Stony Silence also doubled up this week to between $10 and $13 depending on the printing. Thanks to the return of Mox Opal, the enchantment is once again a sideboard staple showing up across archetypes to lock down decks like Grinding Station Combo. Stony Silence has a bunch of reprints and this high supply should keep prices from getting too absurd. If you have a bunch of extra copies laying around, it's probably a good time to sell them. For sideboard all stars, prices often swiftly rise when the meta shifts but then drops just as quickly once the meta changes again.

Finally, it's prerelease weekend for Aetherdrift, and currently the set looks pretty low value. We're not even out of the presale period yet and only three cards from the base set are worth more than $10 in Ketramose, the New Dawn, The Aetherspark, and Radiant Lotus. I cracked some boxes this week and got absolutely wrecked. The set just doesn't have enough value to justify its currently inflated sealed prices (apparently because of supply issues according to vendors on social media). While buying singles is good advice for pretty much every set, it's especially good advice for Aetherdrift. Unless you open a special treatment for one of the three big cards, it's nearly impossible to come out ahead in value. Across the five boxes that I opened, I lost around $100 per box, discounting the times I found a $100+ Radiant Lotus showcase treatment.
