This week in Magic finance the biggest gainer was Yggdrasil, Rebirth Engine which jumped 400% to $19 after showing up in a new build of Through the Breach in Modern which looks to use the artifact to cheat Emrakul, the Aeons Torn (borderless) into play. At this point it's too early to say if the card sticks in the deck - right now Modern is in upheaval as players try to replace recently banned cards like The One Ring (bundle) and look to integrate the recently unbanned cards into lists. Yggdrasil, Rebirth Engine is already the most expensive non-reprint card from Assassin's Creed (and second overall behind Sword of Feast and Famine), so this might be its peak. On the other hand, just how easy it to reprint Yggdrasil remains unknown. I'd lean toward selling into the hype, although in some ways we're in uncharted territory here.

Speaking of Modern, we're still seeing a reset around last weeks ban list update. Hollow One tripled up to $5 thanks to the Faithless Looting unban, while both Indomitable Creativity (showcase) and Archon of Cruelty (showcase) gained around 150% for the same reason. Meanwhile, Fear of Missing Out (showcase) more than doubled up to $14 as a new Splinter Twin combo piece, although whether it's actually better than more traditional options remains to be seen. Expect the reshuffle to continue for the next few weeks as players try to update their decks and figure out the new meta.

Finally in Standard, Abhorrent Oculus (prerelease) gained 64% this week to a massive $48, making it one of the most expensive cards in the format. While the three-drop does see some Standard play in Azorius Tempo, it's also another card that benefits from the Faithless Looting unban in Modern where we've seen Murktide Regent decks splash into red for the one-mana sorcery. How high can Oculus go? I wouldn't be surprised if this was around the peak. Even though the mythic is a constructed all-star, it doesn't see much Commander play and it's hard to see a recent mythic push much past $50 without support from the game's most played format.
