Finance Update w/ Saffron Olive |
|
This week, most of the finance news comes from the last week's Pro Tour or the Friday release of Commander 2018. In Modern, cards from the breakout RB Vengevine are still on the rise with Leyline of the Void shooting up around 30% to about $55, Gravecrawler climbing 54% to $11, and Hangarback Walker increasing 54% to $8.50. Whether the deck proves to be better than Hollow One over the long term remains to be seen, so it's probably best to sell into the spike.
Meanwhile, Omnath, Locus of Rage, Copy Enchantment, and Enchanted Evening are the big Commander 2018 winners. Omnath, Locus of Rage is a great upgrade for the Jund lands matter deck, more than doubling in price to $9, while Copy Enchantment (up 30% to $15) and Enchanted Evening (up 62% to $25) are easy inclusions in the Estrid, the Masked Bant Enchantment deck. There will probably be more Commander 2018 spikes in coming weeks, so if you are looking to upgrade the decks, pick up the pieces soon.
Finally, Nexus of Fate is trending down a bit. Even though TCGplayer-mid is still around $35, copies can be found for closer to $25. The long term future of the card remains hazy. Wizards announced this week that there are more copies of Nexus of Fate in print than any other mythic rare from Core Set 2019. The question is whether this will remain true over the long haul as supply of other mythics from the set continue to enter the market from box openings and Magic Online redemption. Without a mechanism to increase supply, it's near the top of the list of cards that could spike after rotation if it becomes a major part of Guilds of Ravnica Standard.
